Suppressors Can a can be converted from QD to direct thread?

As I wait for my stamp for my AAC sdn6, I had a thought. I tried researching AAC website with no luck. Google didn't give me anything either. I read about so many guys having problems with there QD mounts from AAC, coming loose or not getting fully snug or ....... So my question is, could the sdn6 be converted to a direct thread on?

There was a thread on here a long while ago about someone doing it, but it would void any warranty that the suppressor had.

The just of the thread was taking the retaining springs out and drilling a couple of holes, threading them and putting a set screw in that locked down the can to the flash hider. Maybe someone on here will be able to revive the thread for you. I'd just hate to drill holes through a 1K$ can just to find out if it works. I guess a guy could use some of that rockset on the threads instead, that might get you buy for a while, not really sure. Someone else will have a better idea.

Yes, use the muzzle device as the adaptor for your thread pitch and count, put a set screw in the can and your set and can change for different threads any time , but check it out first its probably going to be fine. If you do go the set screw rout you could chop off flash hider or break part ahead of the shoulder and have larger volume in the blast chamber.

I highly doubt you would have issues with your sdn6 everyone I know who claimed they had an issue with their AAC QD mounts, worked for Surefire.

I was hoping aac would do this conversion if once I got my can and it shot like shit. I'm hoping and praying mine is one of the exceptions, but if I didn't have bad luck, I'd have none at all. I still have quite a few months to wait, but I'm just soooo paranoid that I'm going to have nothing but problems. I shouldve just gone with the surefire can that was sitting right next to the aac that I bought. Oh well. I suppose ill find out eventually if I'm lucky or not

I have fixed over 20 AAC mounts for myself and friends and I do not have any association with Surefire expect for owning their products.

I have an SD6 and can share the following. The mounts are the problem not the can. I sent mine back and they checked it and said it was in spec. They were kind enough to send me two mounts to try. Long and short of it is if the can locks up tight and has no waggle then you are good to go and your groups will be as good as without the can. If you have a wiggle or a waggle then perhaps you should do what I did. I took my mount and the can to my gunsmith and he charged me $25 to trim the mount so it looks up tighter than a rats ass in wind storm.
