can i use 178gr 30 cal amax for 1-10 in 1-12 brl

can i use 178gr hornady amax which has 1-10 printed on the side of the the box well can i put these through my sps tactical with the 1-12 barrel. im going to reload tommorow or take them back.

12 twist is a tricky place as they might or might not but that goes for the 175 SMK also. I had a 12 twist barrel that wouldn't shoot the 175 SMK until they were over 2675fps. I would say give the 178s a try. They are an excellent bullet and if you can get them to fly then you will be happy with them. Try them with some Varget.

I've stabilized them without a problem from a 1:12 30-06 but have not had the same luck with a 1:12 308 from the same owner. The difference in velocity is that the -06 was running 2850 fps with them as opposed to about 2625

I use 178 Amax's in both my 308 and 30-06. Velocity is @ 2625 for both loads (same dope for both rifles). The 308 is a rem varmint barrel it shoots 1/2 MOA @ 100 and the 30-06 is a light weight barrel it shoots 1 MOA or better @ 100.
