My new build is a Rem 700 sitting in a JP chassis which has a tubular forearm that sits .118" higher than the top of the receiver. The math on my planned mounting system seems extremely close so I would appreciate someone checking my numbers.
It looks like the scope will be a NF 3.5-15x50 although I would prefer the 56mm version. I would like to use a NF direct mount and it appears my options for this mount are 1" or 1.125".
With half of the 50mm objective plus the extra 3mm occupied by the forearm, I need 28+mm of clearance. The 1.125" mount gives me 28.575mm.
I've looked at a few pics of similar optics / mounts here on the Hide and it appears there is more clearance than I'm seeing on paper. Am I missing something or should I give up on the direct mount?
