AS,

I spent the night on a sofa, got up at 0530 then drove two hours to get there, but the winds and rain were keeping me to the speed limit (I know, it's hard to believe, but sometimes I do the speed limit). If the weather is that bad, I'd hate to see other folks attempt it. But anyway, it's a light car, you guys didn't have any problems pushing it last time. Maybe it's time to get a snorkel for the exhaust, so the ATB can make it through water deeper than a foot deep.

hey i bet the sun was in DocB's eyes too!!

actually gents the weather was awful, bad t-storms out of no where, the weather predicters need to be strung up, according the the weather channel web site as of midnight last night we were to have clear skys from 7am til 3pm...

Got you beat DocB, I slept 4 hours got up at 0530 and drove 3.5 hours to get there and find out that the match was cancelled then turned around and drove another 3.5 hours in that damn storm to get home again! Got back to Tennessee and the damn sun shined all day here and not a drop of rain. That was a bad storm. I still would have shot but it's all part of it! Next time it's storming all you Bama's load in a car and come up here and shoot on my 1000 yard range at the house...talk about checking their zero's!

We probably passed each other while I headed on back to Rocket City. Rained all the way to the house.

Got a 1k range? If you can set up half a dozen shooting positions, maintain a regular match schedule, and don't mind folks shooting close to where you live; you won't have any problems getting folks to show up to shoot, including TN guys. The Tullahoma guys have to deal with all the problems associated with shooting on Federal properties.

You're welcome to shoot here anytime Larry! No big deal on the drive, got a new Q56 three weeks back and needed to road test it anyway. I don't want a regular match at my house but I am serious if you ever need a rain location or just to have a special match. My bay is proably 70' feet wide so you could easily do six shooters at a time. I have two large target stands and 5 smaller stands along with rifle steel and a pistol plate rack. In my case you would move the shooters in lieu of the berms but you have a lot of room to move them. Call me when you are up this way some time and you can take a look.

But, if Jerry beats me on my own range you may not hear from me for a while!

hey guys, i know that my profile says that i am in Jacksonville NC but that is only until Dec-Feb time frame then its back home to that Ham. How often and where do you guys shoot? I would love to get some time in behind the gun at some longer distances than 200. Hope im not imposing on a close knit group of guys, but i just want to branch out and meet and shoot with some new guys. Hope to hear from you guys soon

hey "deadly", i run a monthly match in scssa in birmingham al where right now we shoot out to 440 yds [we are working on 500 and 600 yd berms], here is the link to our range website and the match description http://www.scssa.org/600-yard_rifle.htm .
we had a real bad thunderstorm this am so at the last minute i had to cancel this mornings match [it was bad, guys were on the road and I couldnt reach them], though better that then lightening strikes i guess...you would be welcome to shoot with us any match, "StrategicEdge" in up in TN and has lots of space where he lives, i think we're gonna try to get up there too to have some fun.

yes-it is really annoying when Jerry does stuff like that, he usually shoots the lights out of everyone else at my matches...i'm still working on a solution for that

I got both of you beat . I woke up Friday at 11:00am , worked on loads trying different powders because I am out of varget , loaded 90 rounds, tried to sleep but I am so used to working nights I could not sleep , worked on a couple of rifles , cleaned up ,left the house at 2:30 am , drove to Oak Ridge (4hrs) , Shot like CRAP ,drove back home(4hrs) , it is now 10:30pm still no sleep .
Well I did get to shoot some, so today was not a total waste .

The secret to success: I coat all my bullets in lard!(that's hog fat for all you uninformed carpet baggers)

Guys, I was so depressed about the match getting canceled that I got under the covers and curled up in a little ball. I just woke up and ate a honey bun, so I think I am getting better and should be recovered by next month.

Tony, sorry about the drive my friend! Glad you made it safe. I'll be up your way in a couple of weeks and look forward to seeing our range.

Larry, I didn't check my E-mail until after I went to the range, Mark and I still set up and shot a few just to see how the weather(gully washer) would do to our shooting. I held less than 1 MOA at 300 so I felt it didn't really effect me to bad.

guys im looking forward to getting out the Marine Corps and coming back home and shooting with what sounds like a straight shooting bunch of guys. Once it gets closer to that time ill definitely shoot you guys a PM and see when and where and probably the million other questions that i have.

deadly0311, when you get ready to shoot "for real" (rain, sleet, snow, heat doesn't stop the match) send a PM for a HardRock match. Of course we do pass on severe lightning & sometimes even hurricanes and tornadoes do cause a halt to the activities !!

It has been raining a good bit lately but compared to the past few years its been a good thing. For awhile there we couldnt buy rain even if we tried. And it is summer in Alabama, so when its not rainin its in the 90's and about 90% humidity, basically sticky as hell sometimes. I hope you can make it to a match when you make it back down, its a fun way to spend the day and meet some great guys.
