Cannot Zero

I have a Christensen Arms MPR in .308. I have a Leupold Mark 5 HD FFP mounted on a Griffin Armament 0 MOA mount. Tried to zero the gun starting at 25 yards was shooting high. There are no down clicks available to adjust. Have never had this issue before with a rifle. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

But also, try zeroing at 100 yards. A .308 zeroed at 100 yards will shoot about 2” +/- high at 25 yards.

Edit: plus, a zero of 25 yards on a .308 is about useless.

i suspect he is trying to get it on paper at 25 so he can move back to 100, thats what i'd do along with many others.

I thought if that, but since he is already on paper since he knows that he’s shooting high, it makes sense to move it to 100 yards and get a real zero. Forget about that intermediate BS and do it right.

FWIW, I sight down the bore at 100 yards with the bolt pulled and rough adjust that way. Then shoot one, adjust for zero. Maybe two more for finer adjusting and good to go. Let the reticle do the work for you.

Of course, if you have a zero stop issue, then you need to understand and correct that first.

i bore site closer to get me on paper without wasting ammo then move back, but by the looks of the posts above he might have issues with the zero stop on the scope that wont let him dial up.

It won’t let him dial down. Still a zero stop issue. He needs to take out the manual and read how to reset his zero stop.

the zero stop only gives you a few clicks down.
loosen the top, move it clockwise a few mils, and tighten it down. now you'll have more down dial before you hit the zero stop.

Assuming you have scope rings with elevation, make sure that they are not on backwards.

in this case, push in the zero and dial up a few clicks.
now loosen the screws so the knob turns freely without clicks and dial it up a few mils, or as much as you need.
tighten the screws again and dial down as many clicks as you need to zero.
once you are zeroed, repeat the steps below to put the zero stop in the right place for your new zero.

He states in his OP that it is a 0 degree mount. It seems obvious at this point that he just has to learn how to reset his zero stop, which @theLBC has spelled out pretty clearly for him in post #10.

That said, bore sight it at 100, and dial it in from there. I just take the bolt out and look through the barrel. That usually gets me within 5” at 100yrds. No reason I know of to try and dial for 25yrds when working on your zero.

i get 5 clicks down (.5 mils). on my 3.6-18x44.
on the bright side, i still get 17.7 (of 29.1 mils) up dial left on my 0 MOA mount, which means i will never get close to the limit.

yup. it is a .308 gas gun, and so i need only ~12mils to reach the effective limits, and have more if i want to try anyway.

So I went to the range today. Your advise was spot on. Thanks a million....

Thanks for all your comments. It all helped. I was able to adjust the scope and get on paper. Got my 100 yard zero today.
