I"ve never shot a handgun with a can till today. I have a couple of questions. I bought a SWR Trident, hoping to use it on my MP5. I got the wrong mount, the LCD. So I thought I would give it a try on a G17 with a Lone Wolf threaded barrel.

It was my impression that the LCD, a Nielsen device, was intended to allow the weapon to cycle normally. The Glock is crazy quiet with the Trident, but it does not cycle using sub sonic ammo. I also have a YHM Cobra 2 which I bought intending to use it on the Glock, same story....and BTW the Trident is noticeably quieter. Thanks guys.

Good. Now go break in that threaded barrel and pistol together. You will find after a little break in the combo will run just fine suppressed with subsonic ammo.

Not sure about buying the extra mount from the manufacturer. I thought the ATF was notifying them that they can only sell one mount per can now. I bought my mount from a private individual, new and unused. I was wondering if some break in might be required. New pistol, new barrel. It's pretty sweet shooting it tho.

YHM is the only one affected by this. Weird.

YHM also was claiming dealer to dealer form 3 transfers were taking 3-5 months. This was only experienced by YHM. Weird.

What do you think YHM makes more money on and sells more of? Ar15 rails, doodads and accessories or silencers?

If you buy the silencer, you will eventually buy the mount whenever it becomes available. It's called a "Guaranteed Sale". So what would you be devoting machine time to?

SWR will sell as long as they have it in inventory. Otherwise you have to wait for the next production run. Don't get robbed buying SWR mounts from an individual for more than retail....

Re: Cans on a Glock

I run my Trident on a Glock without issue...3.4 grains of 700X on a 135 grn bullet running right around 1000fps. No failures whatever but I did run a couple of mags of supersonic through the pistol/new barrel...
Want to hear scary quiet.. try the trident on a Contender 9mm...about as hollywood as you can get with a 9mm can

Right after I posted this I ran outside and fired off a round...I asked the wife to hold the camera and got one of those "looks"..bit of a cluster but you get the idea...

I bought a 357 mag mould and cast my own. You can shoot them through a Glock if you drop the bullets out of the mould and into a bucket of water. I use wheel weight lead, it measures around 27 hBN after water quench.

The other thing you can do is get a .356" sizing die from lee and buy 357mag bullets, lube them up and shove them through the sizer if you want jacketed stuff for the G17. I've done that as well, but as always, jacketed stuff performs no differently on non-organic targets, so I shoot a lot more lead because it's cheaper.

I didn't realize it was welded shut. Mine all disassemble for that reason, I forgot some MFG's seal them up.

Disregard my lead comment, you can still size down the 158 jacketed bullets though.
