Case for Leica Geovid 10x42 AB+

I've just received a pair of Leica Geovid 10x42 AB+ binos and find that the accompanying carry case is too tight fitting for my liking. The Marsupial Large Enclosed Binocular Harness seems like it might work, but it has a magnetic closure and I am concerned about its interference with the internal compass. Any thoughts in this regard?
Thank you in advance,
Ron

After carefully reviewing the Marsupial’s internal dimensions it does not appear to be a good fit, rendering its magnetic closure a moot point. The KUIU pro large may be a better choice.

What will you use the bino harness for? Hunting? Competitions?

The Stone Glacier Sentinel looks interesting for a hunting one, and maybe competition but I don't know what competition people want out of a harness to be honest.

Thank your reply.
The Stone Glacier does indeed look interesting, but the website does not appear to provide internal dimensions. As for use case, while I agree that a harness is not a necessity for competition or a casual day at the range, it does free up one’s hands and limits the potential for loss or damage of the not inexpensive binos. I have the KUIU pro on order and will report back as to its usability when it arrives.

I’ve had the marsupial for a set of Geovids, and they fit fine. Maybe sizing changed, but I believe I needed the large. Magnets messed with kestrel and garmin. I would go with the no-mag option. FHF will fit Geovids as well.
I’d searched for non-magnetic closure cases but could not seem to find one that would fit. I too have a Kestrel and Garmin chrono and hope that the soon to arrive case—with magnetic closure—will not prove to be problematic. But I appreciate your reply.

Call and talk with Marsupial Gear, I’m sure they have a pretty good list of optics that will nest securely in the harnesses they offer.
Thank you for the suggestion, but after reading several of the recent posts I am reluctant to buy a harness with magnetic closure, and the Marsupial is magnetic as per their website. Additionally, I have a KUIU Pro on order. Hopefully it is not magnetic, as the product description makes no mention of same.

Just as an FYI in case you return that SG harness:

Thank you, I will keep your suggestions in mind if I need to replace the KUIU.

Given the relatively rigid construction of the KUIU I doubt that it will stretch to conform to the binos, so I am returning them and have ordered the ‘large’ FHF. It’s only available in bright orange, not my first choice, but I’ll give it a try. Their website indicates that the large model fits the Geovid Pro 10x42, and I assume that the dimensions are the same as those for the AB+ model.
Thanks again for your assistance.

How do you like the AB+ model so far?

I’ve only had it a few days, and I am still trying to decipher the manual as it relates to the 2 control buttons. The glass is excellent, the weight is reasonable, but I am having some issues with both the Leica Ballistics app and or my Kestrel transmitting ballistic data to the binos, as in, the data does not appear in the binos. I’ve searched all online videos and they have not been helpful. I suspect that it is a setting that I’ve overlooked, but the manual is not very explanatory. I may have to call Leica support after the weekend unless someone on this site chimes in with first hand knowledge of the AB+.

This is a followup to your question in re the Leica Geovid 10x42 AB+.
The optics are great, but IMO that’s where greatness leaves the tracks. The reticle, even at maximum brightness—5—is barely visibly in bright sunlight. The menus are reminiscent of the 90’s, and while I finally figured out how to display .mil adjustments transmitted from the ballistic ap, the display—even with the timed adjustment maxed out—is so brief that if you sneeze you’ve missed it. While the aforementioned issues may represent a one off problem, my experience with recent vintage Leica cameras tells me that it may be a design issue. I plan to return the bino and find something else that will better suit my needs.

Regarding the bino harness question in the original post. I recently was searching for a harness system for a pair of LARGE 15x58 Minox binos. I ended up with this from Osprey. Archeon™ Chest Rig. Might be worth a look if you're still searching.

Hello, and thank you for your suggestion. However, I am returning the Geovids.
The Leica glass is good, but in my experience with their photographic offerings they have been consistently behind the technological curve, and the Geovid fits this pattern. It’s internal implementation of the AB universe is not, at least IMO, user friendly, and other manufacturers have done a much better job. It is for this reason that I am returning the binos and will go for something else, most likely the Sig 10K AB Gen II. While its glass will likely not be up to Leica’s standards, the electronics appear to far ahead.

I’d be interested to see how the two binos compare once you get the sigs in

Hello MurphyTX,
The Kilo 10AB Gen 2 arrived awhile ago and I have spent sometime fiddling with them. They feel a tad heavier and smaller than the Geovids, but they are, for my hands, more ergonomic. With both eyes open, as binoculars should be used, there is no blue tint but, of course, if you view through the right tube alone there still is some slight tint, but that is not the way binos are used. The reticle and all other data is a pleasure to see, and while I have not adjusted anything other than the diopters, the screen representation is sharp and clear, as is the view through the binoculars at distant targets, and all this in bright sunlight. While I no longer have the Geovids to perform an A/B comparison, my recollection is that there is not a big difference in resolution between the two, but that’s to my eyes, and others might disagree. This is just a preliminary report, and I will contribute more after I’ve had a chance to really put it through its paces, but after just a few hours of use I am pleased with the Kilo as compared to the Geovid. Additionally, the manual is explanatory, unlike that of the Leica, and the BDX app appears to be more sophisticated and detailed than the app tied to the Leica. The Sig manual makes it clear that after the transfer of profile data the app is really not needed for day to day function of the binos. As a bonus, the sig comes with a lifetime warranty.
Regards,
Ron

The lifetime warranty is what is hard to pass up to me on the Sigs. I haven’t spent time behind Swaros and Leicas so I’m ignorant to the benefits of better binos. I’ve been running a pair of vortex diamondback 10x42s for 7 years without any complaints. Figure anything is an upgrade to that lol

I’ve spent more time with the Kilo 10’s, and based upon my recollection of the Geovid's resolution of distant targets, I can say that the Leica is/was somewhat sharper, but the tradeoff is the Kilo’s excellent rangefinder with all of the important shooting parameters visible on screen at the same time—something the Leica cannot do without cycling screens— as well as a very visible reticle in the presence of bright sunlight, something the Geovid struggled with. Furthermore, rendering of ranging data is much faster on the Kilo. Returning to image sharpness, while the Leica’s optics are indeed sharper, those of the Kilo in no way limit target acquisition. I will be keeping the Kilo.
