You guys that shoot tight necks in your rigs, how much neck thickness is enough?

If you turn necks to fit your chamber, and leave 0.002 per side of "slop", how much neck thickness is enough to be safe after turning? 0.010", 0.0125", 0.008"?

Building a 284 Shehane with 0.313 neck, 284+(0.0125x2)=309, which leaves 0.002 "slop" on both sides. Does that sound right?

Also, is 0.002 "slop" on both sides pretty standard?

I think you're looking at it backwards. Try saying "What's the least I can remove from my case necks and still be uniform?" It's going to depend on your brass. Check a few handfulls for thick and thin spots and average things out. You can measure new brass or old brass if it's clean.
