Case prep stations

What is everyone using for a case prep station? The Lyman looks super intriguing. I've used the RCBS station but it felt like the motors were under powered, I wanted more torque.

Any new heat out there I don't know about?

I have the Lyman. Works pretty good when I need to use it. Haven’t used it in a while since I bought a Giraud. If the Giraud is in the budget, I highly recommend it.

The Giraud has made my life so much easier. I can now trim, inside and outside chamfer in one step where before it was 3 individual steps.
Steps:
1. Decapping
2. FL and Neck size
3. Sinclair neck .002 under
4. Giraud
5. Tumble
6. Anneal

Rcbs brass boss, not the case mate. The boss will spin brass right out of your hand if you don’t pay attention.

I have the Lyman and it doesn't need any more power. I wear nitrile gloves to keep cases from spinning in my fingers. Well worth the $$.

My "case prep station" is a DeWalt drill, a plastic tub and a handful of tools from Sinclair. I trim on either a Wilson trimmer or a Giraud, depending on the number of cases that I'm trimming. Sinclair has a motorized station that looks heavy duty but its expensive. When you see used ones come up for sale they sell quick. A friend has the smaller RCBS unit and I have seen it run for hours without overheating. Athough it looks lightweight it held up ok.

Glad to hear the Lyman has some good power, got one of those one order now. The brass boss looks intriguing too, just didn't see that in time.

The Lyman is a good unit. I have a Giraud for trimming but use the Lyman when prepping new brass since it does not need trimming and I don't like resetting the shell holder for depth every time I use the machine. I also use the Lyman to brush the inside of my necks after annealing to remove any debris as a result of the extreme heat from the annealing process.

RCBS Brass Boss has been amazing. The torque and speed has set the bar to beat. The heads rotate fast enough that I need less pressure with my fingers to get the same result.

1. Variable speed
2. 6 stations!
3. 4 stations are the same speed and 2 stations are faster speed
4. Durability - its a square box with nothing to break off or catch edges.

I have used the Lyman now for thousands of rounds. No issues.

That said... save for the Giraud unless you are prepping 100 cases at a time. Once you start doing 200-300+ at a time, the Giraud is money well spent.
