Make sure your signature hasn't changed. I started voting absentee about forty years ago. After signing stacks of checks for years I realized my signature had morphed. I went to the co. elections office and had them pull the old signature card. Sure enough, there was no resemblance. It probably resulted in years of ballots being thrown out. Also, don't mail your ballot if you can avoid it. Hand carry it to a collection point, mail it and it goes through many more hands. This one counts.

    Absentee?
    Bwahahahahaah

Im getting my lazy ass up and taking it down to the polling place to vote in person.
Not everyone are in their home area on election day Mags. I used to go several months at a time without seeing my house. This year as well, is about as extraordinary as it gets and many will not be going to polling places.

My biggest suggestion is if available, vote early. However, the OP brings up a very good point for those to be careful about, and I'll add ensuring you are registered and your address is current with your local election board. While many states allow registration on Election Day, others cut it off up to 30 days before the election. If you moved, you need to register again, and don't trust Motor-Voter registration either, we all know how bad the DMV is at doing their jobs as it is.

    Here's some useful links:

I've been voting absentee for years. I think they intentionally schedule it for the first week of deer season.

Doing so also allows me to sit at a computer and research every name on the ballot before making my choice.

I will be hand delivering this year, though.

I've been doing the same because it's easy to look up any names I don't know. Even if it's just so I can write in against the unopposed Dems.

For those who want to research candidates, your county's election webpage should have sample ballots. Pull it up and go through your choices over a cup of coffee on the couch, then take your list with you to vote.

We typically know who we want to vote for on federal and state races, but it's the local races that make a huge difference in our family's lives. If you don't have kids and are involved in their education, do you really know who is right for the school board? City/county council? County clerk? County attorney? These are very impactful elections that need some research before arbitrarily punching names or leaving blank.

And I completely agree on hand delivering the ballot. I can't trust my mail carrier to get me the grocery store flyer each week, that fucker is so fat our entire town is sure he's eating our mail instead of delivering it.

I signed up for an absentee ballot earlier this summer. But if I'm physically able to get to the polls this November, you bet your damn ass I'll be there in person.

I would cut body parts off to be able too. I can’t travel more than 150 miles from my office and I’m 3,800 miles from home.

Hope everyone that can goes and votes in person, at least you can make sure it gets counted.

I always wondered if it is this way in every State ??? . In Oregon 'vote by mail only' you never actually sign your voting ballot, you just signature/sign the mailing envelope that carries your ballot. So your vote ballot standing alone outside the mailing envelope, technically there is really nothing that proves that is really your ballot and voting choices .

Shit, if I get the Covid standing in line to vote, I'll wear it as a badge of honor. Then, I'll go cough that honor all over the grocery store. There's a lot of people around here that could do with a bit more honor...

(That part about infecting the grocery store is meant in jest, but there are a lot a douche bags around here...)

Have no fear, mail in voting is great! Because if you put down the wrong answer on your ballot, they’ll correct it for you instead of letting you turn in a ballot with the wrong answer!!

The UN and various NGOs monitor elections internationally particularly as regards the likelihood of fraud. The process now in place would have them screaming "Train Wreck". When constructing the conditions to create regime change is for the public to lose faith in their electoral process. The left has never accepted DJT as the duly elected leader of the country and have done everything in their power to delegitimize his administration. They will continue this no matter the outcome of the election.

There are only two positions one can take and they are diametrically opposed. One is "Count every ballot". The other is "Count every valid ballot".

    Odds are never counted.
