Hey guys,

I have been shooting CCI SV out of my T1x for 6 months now. I have gone through parts of two large flats of the "old" stuff.
In general it has shot very well. After testing some of newer re-branded stuff my friend and I were both quite disappointed with
the results. I understand it's the same ammo, but from what I have read and now experienced it seems quality control seems
to be an after-thought, and the lots that I was shooting were a number of years older than the new one.

Is there anything in the same ballpark in terms of price that is similar in terms of traditional CCI reliability? I have shot a bit of
Eley Sport, but that is 40% more expensive where I live (Canada). I am just target shooting for fun, but it's alot less fun when
you start to expect some pretty wild fliers.

All the manufacturers of 22lr cartridges are running those machines
as fast as is safely possible to attempt to meet current demand.
When demand exceeds production, quality control suffers when trying to keep up.
To obtain better consistent results, ye'r going to have to spend more on European made rimfire ammo.
I'd recommend the mid grade SK lines, Pistol Match, Rifle Match and Biathlon Sport.

Right now it's my impression that RF ammo going up to the $8/box level is doing the vanishing act. Sucks to pay $100 for a brick of plink ammo but that may be where your going. Hope this isn't headed to be like it was 4 years ago.

agreed, we joked about this being the covid-run of cci.... get as much out as humanly possible in the shortest amount of time. pretty disappointing.

I have been shooting some CCI-SV , I have two lots of the older blue box that shoot well for what it is, I also have tried some of the newer CCI that has the red stripe on the box, one lot was decent, the other was just awful.

RWS target rifle is pretty similar to SV. It is usually in the SK standard plus range. A big box was closing it out a couple years for less than SV so I bought everything they had of the same lot. Probably not going to see that again for a while. Don't be jealous. I think my old case of SV shoots better. I probably have a life times supply of indoor 3P league ammo.

I’ve had really good luck with prime ammo 22lr. Just a few bucks more than CCI SV, shoots about 1/2” at 50 yards consistently.

Which Prime ammo? I have some of the 40gr HP Subsonic rated at 1034 fps that none of my rifles like. It will be at least double the size group compared to CCI SV, SK Rifle match, SK Standard Plus, and Norma TAC. Maybe I have Just a really bad lot #. I don't have a chrono to check velocities. Definitely has much more vertical spread.

I’ll have to check when I get home but I believe it is 40grn standard velocity stuff. I have never chrono’ed it as I just zeroed at 50 then verified dope in 25 yard increments out to 200 yards and adjusted velocity in my balistic solver to match my DOPE.

I have the same Prime 22lr and experience, tried it in multiple weapons and it shoots like crap in every one of them...

Here is a group from a week or so ago. This was me double checking zero at 50 yards on a larue 1/2” square target. 4 in the main group and one off to the side. Not sure if the one off the main group was me or the ammo. Either way, those are all inside 0.5” at 50 yards. You may get a little better consistency with Lapua or Eley, but this stuff was about $30 a brick. YMMV

I must have gotten a bad lot, I purchased 5k when they were doing the big close-out sale.
I can actually hear the difference in the rounds... especially when using a suppressor. Some are sub-sonic, and some are not.

Nope, you have a "standard" lot. This stuff sucks for accuracy. I bought a case when it was on sale, and have used a fair amount of it plinking/practicing with pistols (which have to be clean and well-lubed to function with any reliability) or sold it to people I know - always with the caveat that it's slow and not accurate past 25 yards or so. Oh, and it's sub-1000fps in the cold.

But, with a suppressor, it's really quiet. Heck, it's quiet without a can.
