That super smooth glass hotdog in a polished hallway feel is great until it’s full of dust or mud. I have three impacts and I’ve run them in Oklahoma and New Mexico dust storms and snow storms and down pouring thunderstorms and all combinations of the three and I’ve never once had the action bind in any way. I think that is the point of the “sloppy” feel. Hand fitting is great on a bench gun and shit when the going gets tough. But then I also have no idea what the “hitch” or “clunkiness” people are talking about is either. And I almost always run my bolt much slower than seems likely.
Can't believe no one is going to throw the Terminus Zeus in the convo lol. One thing I've notice about the Impact/LP debate is it tends to be largely regionalized. It may have changed some in recent years, but Impact has an impressive following in the midwest (think OK and east) and in the south, and LP seems to be well regarded out west. I've run a few LP's in the south and everyone with an Impact wants to try it out. Did they run home and buy a LP, probably not. There's not enough difference in them IMO to say one is overwhelmingly better than the other. Pick whichever one your buddies (or your wife) won't make fun of you for owning and shoot the piss out of it.
I have been running a Kelbly Prometheus (75°) in 6gt this season after getting a cert for one off a prize table last year, but my other PRS build is on a 737r. I've been very pleased with the Prometheus and it has performed as well as the Impact in the NM sand, so far.good pts but the kelbly has aggressive bolt fluting. so no problems there. I think he was talking about just how smooth the action is. the black bear is the smoothest action ive ever ever felt but its a flat base.
also funny i havnt heard about a hitch in the impacts. but i dont have one.
anything specifically?
as far as i know the Kelblys had a design flaw in their mechanical ejector several years ago where the ejector was catching the brunt force of the bolt and it was shearing off the tiny pin that holds the mech ejector in.
that problem has since been addressed in all their actions. I would call for a modified ejector to fix that problem if u own a atlas.
__________
the new Prometheus is my fav action available right now. it has all the features you need in a PRS rig. integral lug, rail, beefy as all heck, smooth, etc etc. when i do side by side tests ive yet to find an action smoother. the trigger hanger is nice for timing your trigger if you are ocd and for a quick trigger swap in poor conditions (AZ this year was so dusty 10 triggers went down, mine included) same last year in NM dust. it happens. esp if you shoot a lot.
that being said i also like impacts and bighorns. and you give me a trued up remington 700 ill be just fine. just doesnt have the sexy resale.
I shot the NRL match in snow and mud last weekend. My partner was using an Impact. I was using the Prometheus. We won by nearly 30 pts over 2nd place team. due to shitty weather, I literally screwed a new barrel on the night before the match and used a load i knew worked good on the last barrel kelbly sent me. easy button.

but to say no to any custom action is just ridiculous. find a good deal on the hide of any actions mentioned above and i guarantee it will shoot better than you or i are capable of. there are lots of crazy good deals that pop.

If you arnt running the QC, see about using a Faxon FX7 (same tenon as the Zeus) barrel if you are running 6CM, 6GT, 6.5CM, or 308... only ones they really make and only have M24 profiles. My 6GT shoots half inch groups all day and is on sale now too... I just picked up another. They punch well above their price point in my experience.I go with smith cut prefits for all barrels but I do check out proofs from time to time. Seems they are always in stock somewhere for impact where Proofs for my Zeus aren’t but that’s not a reason to give up my Zeus.
lol, Planning to make the purchase at the end of May but based off all the feedback I’m leaning towards a 737r in a SICS chassis. I’m partial to the SICS and it looks like the Impact has a track record of fitting well with it.Hey @Billygoat934, where are you? Maybe we can get your hands on some of these before you make your once in a marriage decision.
I agree, the Zeus looks like a hell of an action but looking at some other threads with the SICS chassis in the folded position there is not clearance for the bolt handle. If I decide against the SICS in favor of the ACC elite, on paper the Zeus looks like the best to me.Can't believe no one is going to throw the Terminus Zeus in the convo lol. The Impact & SICS combo is gtg. I liked it better than the ACC Elite when I had both (both are great tho).lol, Planning to make the purchase at the end of May but based off all the feedback I’m leaning towards a 737r in a SICS chassis. I have one. It’s the bomb. Get barrels from Jon Beanland. Guaranteed to shoot better than you ever will. The Zeus is my next action for a custom build I'll be doing next year. It is a heck of an action, but also super expensive. It will be my end all build for sure. I didn't bring it up because it was not in your list, but I would go Zeus over any of the other actors listed to be honest.
