Chamber iron question

My uncle brought me his Marlin 917VS and said it wouldn’t extract fired rounds. This is what the chamber looks like. I’m assuming it needs a chamber iron, but I’ve never used one and don’t own one. If that is what would work in this situation, will a 22 chamber iron work for his .17HMR, or are there any other suggestions?

You may have to dress the breechface to square it up afterwards.
You got a sharp burr on the boltface or extractor that dug into it?

Thanks for the link! Actually, I’m pretty sure he or his sons have dry fired it and caused this issue.
