Chamfer and deburr case mouths on every reloading?

Should this be done every time or just when trimming? I always do it to virgin brass and had planned on redoing just when trimming. The inside chamfer on my 1x brass looks less obvious than I thought it would.

Been wondering if the Giraud actually chamfers when the cases are shorter than the set trim length?
I would think not, but I run ‘em all through regardless.
It may not do each one 100% all the way around each and every time but almost all of them get at least half the sooty chamfer cut (or at least scraped is no brass is actually removed) clean. Usually mine get cleaned up all the way around though.

It does enough that I run every single piece of brass over it every time.

I don't know if it's brass flow or what but inspecting fired cases doesn't show much if any inside chamfer left. I also touch the mouth of each case against some 400 or 600 Al2O3 paper held in my palm. Slow, PITA but I think touching the mouth helps to eliminate crack initiation at the mouth and aids inspection. Done lightly it doesn't remove much brass.
I then snap a close up of each case and examine them on the computer.
Not really :)

I tried to get some pictures, but all my fired cases still have the chamfer intact. Its hard to see because its not shiny. I just went over some 223s I shot this morning and some re-sized .308, 6.5 creed, and 300wm brass.

Every time here. I use a rotary sifter to get the corn cob media out of my brass and it peens up the case mouths a bit. Lyman Case Prep center works very well. I also have a Giraud trimmer too but if I'm not trimming I typically use the Lyman instead (primer pocket clean, champfer, debur, neck brush).

'nother vote for only-after-trimming and on virgin brass. Essentially, as long as I'm not seeing the case shaving copper off of the projectiles as they're seated, I tend to leave them (the case mouths) alone.
