Question for you guys. So I have two AR's. Both are Stag, 16 inch, carbine length gas, one is 1:9 and the other is 1:7. The rifles are a mixture of different parts but the barrels are Stag. I've just gotten into reloading and all I have is 1000 of the 62 gr green penetrator pulls and 1000 of the 55 gr pulls. Nothing is match quality by any means. All my brass is LC with some Winchester and Federal mixed in but sorted. The 1:7 has a front sight post, 7 inch hand guard, and delta ring while the 1:9 is free floated with a 15 inch hand guard. My dilemma is I'd like to start reloading 75 grain Hornady up to about 80 grain because I have the 1:7 twist and I want to reach out further than what my 1:9 is allowing which is maximum 300 yards. My question is knowing that Stag does not make match barrels do I convert the 1:7 into more of a longer range gun by changing out the rail to something that can extend past the post like the TROY or Samson STAR rail (both rails are drop in but the TROY is not free floated) so I can place the bipod or sandbag further out for more stability or just change the 1:9 barrel to a 1:8 match barrel at 18 inches? I know the 1:7 will still be non free floated because of the delta ring used by the TROY hand guard (unless I dremel it off and use the Samson) and this will affect accuracy so I'm keen to the fact that there will still be variables which will hinder my progress.
Another question is will the front sight post block the view of my scope? I have Vortex PST 4-16x50.
