Chassis or stock for an anschutz 22

It depends on what Anschutz, they make a lot of different actions. However that being said I know of a few people who have installed the match 54 action into McMillan stocks that are not designed around an Anschutz action. It is best to start off with a blank stock that has not been inletted yet. It is possible...

You really need to know what action before you place an order or make a decision. A 64 is completely different than a 54, and of the 54 actions there are 3 variations (for the most part): the match 54 which is a single shot that uses 2 action screws both in front of the trigger assembly and a recoil lug block that is embedded into the stock, the match 54 repeater (same as the match 54 but with a magazine assembly, and the sporter 54 which is a repeater with a magazine hanger, but the rear action screw is behind the trigger and the recoil lug is sandwiched between the barrel and the action face. There are chassis available for the sporter version (1710/1712 action) but I don't know of any for the match action. See the following pic:

However there is another option for the match 54, something I have wanted to try for a while now. Anschutz offers an adapter so you can install a match 54 (18X or a 19XX) into a 20XX chassis. But I think it may be a viable way to adapt into any chassis with a little machine work and epoxy:

Its just a thought...

I have my 1712 18” in an MDT LSS-22. I only went this route because the factory wood stock had too low a comb. Generally I don’t like chassis and would prefer to have this rifle in a Manners T4 style of stock, if one existed. The only close option is a GRS, which I’m ordering for my 1727F 18”. Also it helped that MDT is local to me so it was a quick fix, for now.

I’ve changed the scope and have an Arca rail on the chassis now, which hugely improves front end stability.
