I’ll throw up the disclaimer to do your own homework, but here is the setup I just put together for $40 and I’m guessing I’ll get about 20hrs of battery life out of it!

It’s an Imuto 20000 mah external battery I got off of amazon, for $29 and an HS Precision stock pack that was $11. It’s a little challenging to work the charging handle, but it can be done...this is an ar pistol, I’d bet a full sized lower would have no issues.

Lol that’s what we were discussing. You gave me the courage to realize i wasn’t going to fry this unit! Lol. That’s the exact setup I used to use on my atn x sight

How did you determine what battery and mAh you needed? Im wanting to do this same thing for a new Pulsar Trail XP50 I just bought. The Pulsar battery packs are $100+. I know there are cheaper options.

i has done this in the past with cheaper ATN x sights. I got to talking to texaeftychef about it and he had done something real similar with thermals. He had done the research that these draw the current they need. I’ve used both a 20,000 and 30,000 mah battery so far without issue. They last a hella long time!

One suggestion though, and yeah I just learned this today. Do not put the weapon in San eberlestock or similar pack with an external cord plugged it. I snapped mine today, so back to expensive cr123’s for a minute!

I was a little worried about it at first too but when I got my Flir I saw that TNVC was launching an external setup especially for the Flir with a regular Anker battery unit and USB cable. So it gave the me the courage to try my own setup out. I personally think any size battery works as the unit only pulls as much as it needs and not any more. Kind of like a cell phone.

Not sure it’s worth the hassle on the Pulsar as the battery packs seem to be a fairly decent option to me and can get me through at least one night if not two. I do wish I had another cradle to charge the battery with an external though. Can get an IPS10 for about $100 and no cables or mounting problems and 15 hours battery.
