    Double check any correspondence from
    Members, don’t assume anything.

A block of scammers got in, they are attempting to mirror members with transactions so protect yourself at all times

Report them, don’t assume, don’t blame the guy they spoofed, do your homework and if you find one report it

They are copying user names with minor variations to fool you. Pay attention

Demand a video chat with a fair bit of moving around before you send any large amounts of money.
You’d think it would be that straight forward. It’s really common sense IF you’re even slightly savvy on the interwebs. Unfortunately, there’s a lot of folks that aren’t. May be their own fault honestly. If you’re not willing to learn and adapt in life, it’ll bite ya in the ass inevitably.

Couldn't you put all new accounts on some kind of probationary period where they have to have x number of post and or x amount of time before they can do anything other than post in regular threads?

Anyone worth keeping around and wanted to be a contributing member would be willing to ride it out, but scammers are looking for a quick buck (I would think)

I will admit I don't know the first thing about running a site like this, but that seems possible....

Scammers have been bumping old threads with useless posts (to pad post counts) since I’ve been here. They’re apparently willing to play the long game when real money is involved…

You misunderstand how they operate they don’t need posts to scam you.

They will pm etc pad counts or hack old dominant ones with easy passwords

20+ years down the road we have seen it all

It’s organized crime and not amateurs this is not Timmy playing games it’s International crime using computers

I had one Sunday, they just added a period “.” To the end of the user name of a member with a for sale thread I had posted to indicating that I’d be second in line should the first buyer back out. Didn’t notice the period at first but did think something was fishy, causing me to check further. Was a close one. That period is easy to miss. I Hit the report button and poof, their account was gone a short time later.

I got scammed once. Now I want to check and verify everything.

There is someone here who has something I want to buy. No feedback but an old old account with almost no posts. Seems like a lot of red flags but a paying member. so I did reach out. Still planning on buying but not until after pictures and more etc.
