I feel dumb asking this question, but I'm trying to make sure I'm doing the math correctly for a build I have coming. Although I've shot nearly my entire life, I've never had the need to really stretch things far enough to consider anything outside of just ordering a 20 or 25 MOA rail and using it. On this rifle though, I want to be able to use as much of the elevation as I can.

I have a Vudoo V-22 that should be here by the end of the month and I plan to use a S&B PM II 5-25 on it.

I ordered the rifle with a 30 MOA rail and I want to be able to zero the rifle at 25 yards with minimum adjustment left, basically almost completely bottomed out.

If I understand correctly, since the PM II has 26 Mils of elevation, I should have the equivalent of half that, 13 Mils or nearly 44 MOA built in to the rail / rings? Is that correct?

I already have the scope and the rifle will be here in a few weeks, so I want to get the mount ordered so I'm ready to go when the Vudoo shows up.

Is my math correct, or am I completely off base?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Chris

I think your math sounds right for the 13 mil is about 44 moa. I'm concerned about you wanting to zero at 25 yds though. If you zero the rifle system at 25 yds then you'll have to dial down in order to impact at 100 yds, ( as an example )

Thanks for the reply ShtrRdy!

I don't think I'll have to dial down on a 22. Usually, from a 25 yard zero, I have about 8" of drop at 100 yards.

My thought is to basically have the scope nearly bottomed out. If my math is correct, the 26 Mils in the scope plus the 13 Mils in the rail and rings should allow me to dial to nearly 585 yards, which is why I'm trying to make sure I'm not missing something.
