Okay just went and shot the rifle today. There were some small bugs I can see that need to be fixed. Bushed firing pin hole will be first priority.. but the rifle shot absolutely stellar at 100,300, and 600. I’ll shoot it next week out to 1500 and past 2k. But next week I’ll see how repeatable the gun is as far as POI shifts go. But at 100 yards with Peterson brass, 130 grns of retumbo and a 420 grn rcky mtn ALBT it shot a 5 shot group that could be completely covered by a nickel. At 300 yards it shot a three shot group that was right at 1 inch maybe a cunt hair under.
Bolt face on bolt was WAY dirtier after its 50 shots today then when I received it yesterday. So rifle appears to have been shot more today than it ever has.
The ammo I made was in my opinion “mild” but showed signs of cratering from the oversized FP hole. MV from a magneto v3 was 2772 average... also the cases showed very mild ejector marks, but absolutely no primer flattening ( headspace, difference of CT’s reamer to Peterson’s brass created the ejection marks, haven’t measured difference yet. )
BUT, as of right now... I can see how far I can push the primer cups till they pierce and try and get the 2950ish MV I think I can get from the gun. (Barrel might need to speed up as well)
BOTTOM LINE, the gun shot just as good on paper today as some of the finest rifles I’ve ever shot. It was a pleasure to shoot as well. Maybe I hit the lottery with this gun and it’s performance, or maybe it’s the beginning of a long road as mentioned above. After reading the comments above I was expecting a 4 moa gun and was ecstatic to its performance.
