i hope that you all are well and trust that you all had a good christmas with family and loved ones.
I was wanting to ask the guru's what they think of a Cheytac M200. I have done some searching on this and other forums, as well as articles about the M200 and the fact that EDM make an almost identical weapon, that it was the first, where cheytac copied the Windrunner etc.
I have also contacted Cheytac and Knesek about the rifle. I know that the rifle is a huge chunk of change. At the moment i have a Sako TRG in 338LM with a Nightforce 5.5-22x56mm with the 1/4 MOA click adjustments and the NP-R2 reticle, which i believe is the same as the Cheytac employ on their rifles.
I am wanting to get the ultimate, i know that i do not posses the skill set to get the most out of the rifle, but would like to employ the best and improve on myself with that. Aside from the cost factor of this rifle, and the fact that the EDM is the fore-runner as well as the cost of operation and ammo. All these things being set aside, what is your guys opinion of the M200 as a rifle and the .408 as a round? I will not be able to license a 50BMG here for legal reasons, and will suffer to get a license for any gas gun or semi what-so-ever, so it will have to be a bolt gun, and i envisage getting a license for the .08 round easier then the 338LM, as the latter is better known to be a "snipers" round. Any views on this rifle or round would be much appreciated, i have to some degree set my mind to this rifle-caliber combination, but thought that i should leave it to the opinion of the "masters" of long range shooting to give me their input and insights. I must just state that this will be purely for my hobby and for punching paper, it is not a hunting rifle, or for any other specific reason, just do love the look of the M200 and have heard (propaganda?) that it is the most accurate out to the longest distances with the lowest ballistic co-efficient. Ow i did not mention that i am from South Africa, so wildcat rounds can not really be considered, i will try to ship the rifle with dies and 100 rounds or so to get going. Opinions please?
