I’m seeing social media reports of Chinese military units rushing to their capital, a freeze on flights into and out of the area, and a news blackout with rumors swirling about coup attempts or (more likely) an internal house cleaning of political figures who oppose Xi. Anyone have a good read on what’s up? Official propaganda sources such as bbc, fox, etc are all radio quiet.

Interestingly most of the articles I read (no real info) were posted 8-12 hrs ago. Going into a weekend is good timing for something like this. On the other hand, if you’re gonna do a coup, you don’t put your leader under house arrest. Generally he’d be laid to rest forever.
I’ll be curious to learn if Li Qiaoming is any better or worse than Xi
