Fished for 11 hours and brought 74 Reds home, ended up with 250lbs each. Thanks Copper River!

Very cool.

Wife and I tried that when we lived up there. Wound up with a broke down Chevy S-10 on the old railroad road (pulley and fan blade came of the water pump and cut through the radiator), spent a night behind the Chitina bar, towed to Glenn Allen and spent 4 days there waiting on parts. Only had 2 fish. We just started buying fish after that. LOL

74!? dude, either you're proxying a whole village or you have a HUGE family!

Anvil;

Interesting.....

I think this may help if you are new to Alaska;

There were two of us fishing, as the photos show, and this was during the 10 extra suplimental period, so we could have caught a total of 80 (40 each), legally. In the first post I mentioned 250lbs (each),,,,? Did you see that?. National Park Service Rangers that are seasonal, and can only be here for the breif summers, have the issue of residency, as I understand, but if you are a resident, you also can get a dip neeting permit as well, and just keep an eye out for the suplimentals that are released by Alaska Department of Fish and Game, here is a quick link to their web site http://www.adfg.alaska.gov/index.cfm?adfg=fishing.main....... and then hurry to Chitina, or the Keani. Just take a second to read, and undersatnd the regs to see if you qualify. I hope this helps. 74 was the best we could do over an 10 hour period, and the salmon tacos last night were sweet!

Velocity;

Hope to smoke about half. Thanks

Or that. That's still a helluva pull. My talent seems to be picking the worst time to go whenever I try, but with my research obligations and recon for critter hunts, I'm lucky if I get a day to go fishing. Hell, I haven't even managed to spend more than a day or two trout fishing this year!

Now, I'm a little too busy getting ready for Bear and Birds to start on the first (What's with all of the cool stuff happening at once!? LOL) and looking for a moose in the meantime to take advantage of it, plus I've got more than enough Reds to hold my freezer through the winter.

AND the new ladyfriend wants me to go berrypicking with her. Speaking of which.... I might have to try making a fish glaze with some of those blueberries....
