Advanced Marksmanship Chronograph for the basics

* please move if this isn't the ideal sub-forum, perhaps to the stupid questions *

I am looking into chronographs, with a budget. Main purpose to strictly get a real world MV from my two rifles. I do not compete...yet, and I do not hand load. I literally just need 1 piece of data to help complete my ballistic data for drop charts. I do shoot suppressed so is the Magnetospeed Sporter out of the question? Or can you make it work? I've read conflicting answers to this. Next option with be the V3, or spend a little bit more over the V3 and get the lab radar. Both of which weren't necessarily in the budget and seem to offer more than I need at this moment. Any other decent options for what I need? Any of the shoot-through types that work well?

I wish I knew ANYONE with chronograph already that I could just borrow but unfortunately I do not.

I can’t recommend any of the optical chronographs, they just don’t compete with the MS or the Labradar.

My advice is get more than what you think you need right now. The MS V3 is a good place to start. It can be kind of a pain to get setup on your rifle but once you get used to it it’s not that bad. The labradar is good also but could be more than u want to spend right now.

Thanks for the advice, Maybe I can get my buddy to go 50/50 with me on the V3. hmmmmm.

but he paid for the spotting scope we use all the time when we shoot so he's claiming that's his contribution so I should buy the chrono

Good choice! Don't forget to to use the rubber piece to protect your strap when shooting suppressed.
