For some reason I've got it in my head I want a "classic" vietnam-era "m40ish" 308 but I'd like to have a few modern updates. Would it be blasphemy to put a ai-mag dbm on such a rifle.
I don't want the gun gods upset and cause me to shoot any poorer than I do already.

Re: "classic" looking rifle build question

It's your rifle, so do it any way you want to.

You can check with the member 'smiths to see if later you could pull the DBM, fill a little, and put some M70 type bottom metal on it if you decide to sell it.

Re: "classic" looking rifle build question

I "go back" to the 1969 - 1971 period, so I used the box magazine back then and for many years after (I still have one '70 era Model 70 Win).

But, over the years I've learned to appreciate DBM on my bolt actions and have several rifles (plus two more builds in process) with DBM.

DBM is useful, nuf said.
