I've had a few jags and brushes break lately and I'm looking to get some new ones. One frustrating thing about most of my current set is that they aren't engraved with caliber markings, so the ones that are close in size annoy me when I'm trying to put them away.

I see that Montana extreme jags are engraved, what about the brushes? Anyone know?

I like the idea of the bore tech fancy metal jags that won't show false positives on copper clean outs. Anyone know if their stuff has any kind of markings?

I've had some cheaper sets like Tipton that are marked, but it wears off really quick.

Engraved is the goal, the bigger the better.

The Bore Tech Proof Positive and Pro-Shot Trace Eraser jags are marked with the appropriate caliber.

The nylon and bronze brushes are not marked.

I use these to keep caliber or rod specific items together:

If I buy a bulk pack of brushes I'll keep the label in the bag.
I use these with a label showing the specific caliber. Each case gets a jag, brush, and mop. I will change the tape cartidge in the label maker to different colors, white on black for rifles and black on white for pistols. I will do the same with the bulk brushes. They stay in the original bag with a table.

The pro shot brass jags also are engraved.

One wrinkle with Pro Shot: their 20cal trace eraser jag only fits correctly on their 17cal rods. It’s too small for their 20cal rods (obv).

I can’t figure out why they don’t resize the 20cal trace eraser jag.

I’ve pointed this out to them for years. One nice CS lady said something about protecting the brass jag with soap, but I imagine you’d still get erroneous blue traces on your patches even if the jag was protected better from the solvent.

I haven’t had to remove a bunch of copper in that gun so I don’t really care. So I use the brass 20cal jag anyway.
