Cleaning rod question

I've got a Kleen Bore cleaning rod for my 308. I use a jag and cotton patches with a bore guide. I'm not sure if the "fit" is tight enough. The rod doesn't spin but maybe 20 deg through the entire cleaning process. Barrel is 1:11.25 twist. The rod spins freely when spun. Is this normal? Any ideas?

I agree, you may need a thicker or larger patch to slide tighter through the bore.

Great idea, I bought a nice pointed brass jag and the patches that are suppose to be the right size, .30 cal, they are too loose, and two patches are too tight. I'm gonna try adding a .223 patch.
