I’ll go ahead and open myself to the seeming requisite to be ridiculed for using a bore scope. Get it out of your system, you’ll feel better…..😏

Have seen a couple posts about some rather shitty chambers produced by Bergara in the heavy barreled actions. After a couple positive range sessions I went ahead with a good cleaning and decided to have a look at the bore. Other than the slight smear at the edge of the leade the barrel looks good.

Seeing as this chamber *doesn’t engrave* on the rifling when chambering do you think it would hurt to have the leade cleaned up to remove the slight imperfection. This barrel already has shown some sub MOA groups at 50yds in the limited testing I’ve done.

Edit…..
Checked a handful of different brands and it does engrave on a couple but not all….
My apologies…..

Correct! If it ain't broken and shoots good, leave it alone. That is why I don't like Borescope, Not a gunsmith , but I did sleep in a holiday inn once, don't look for trouble. Every barrel has some level of imperfection, most of them won't mess with the bullet, but if you are not experienced you can accidently do something and mess up a great barrel. Yes messing with stuff is fun, but you should learn on junk, a trait I hope to learn someday.

I agree with both of your thoughts. I’m not one to obsess over less than perfect. I have a couple centerfire barrels that look like hammered dogshit but still shoot very well.
I’d like to give this barrel it’s best chance to shine.

How does the rest of the bore look ? Is it staying clean, too? I find your pic is 'pretty Bright', hard to make out details. Maybe the lights can go down a bit ? Here's my VMTR with about 2K rounds last Sept.

Yeah, the picture leaves a lot to be desired…
The rest of the bore looks real good. Only have about 100rnds on it.
Talked with my smith and he’s going to give it a look. I trust his opinion. He’ll probably tell me to ditch the borescope…..lol

hangunnr - Yes, one can get carried away with 'concerns' of stuff found with the borescope. However, you can develop a baseline for cleaning. ie, I need to at least soak a patch with C4 into the chamber after 100-150 rounds to remove the beginnings of a Carbon Ring. Otherwise groups will open up beyond 0.75" with my VMTR. Less Fussy rifles can go longer if the chambers are less 'precise'. And I always thoroughly clean chamber and bore after each range trip, so I start 'new' each trip. I try for MOA accuracy and at 50 yds often get it. At 100 I'm only in the 'sub-1.5" range'. Consistency is a goal.
