Is this worth a visit? All I want to do is verify my zero and maybe a few rounds down range at 200. I do plan on heading over to Mammoth soon and want to verify my zero first since moving down with rifle zero in Alaska. Might throw some 45s too. I will call the ranger office but not sure how helpful they will be. Afraid it will be full of Rambos.

Thanks

It's about 45 minutes from Lexington! It's 4 bay covered range out to 200 yards! Costs $6.00, leave the money in a drop box! If you go during the week, there's a pretty good chance you'll be there alone!

The Clear Creek area is also a good place to hike and Mtn Bike as well!

Re: Clear Creek Shooting Range Daniel Boone Forest KY

check out the ky dnr website. there is public land to hunt in ky. the majority of it is wma's that are archery only for deer and normal regs for everything else. the range in crittenden has tubes that go out to 100 yards. there is also a pretty nice pistol range there that goes out to the 300 yard gongs with berms at 25, 50, 75, 100, etc yards. there is a 200 yard berm. it is covered. nice big concrete benches. it is a nice setup. there are little iron duck silhouettes that are on the pnuematic deals, but i haven't seen them on. it is open for events that are sponsored by the Northern KY straight shooters association.

i'm not fancy about embedding a link so that's the website that lists the schedule. the group has annual membership due of 15 buck or something, but i don't think they have a website. you can sign up at an event. nice guys, but serious about safety on the range.

Re: Clear Creek Shooting Range Daniel Boone Forest KY

Went to Clear Creek of a Friday, packed full, should have reported it. The range had trash and garbage all over it used for targets I presume. No established target stands just some plywood leaned up. Took just at an hour drive with a pit stop at the rest area. Wife and I spent some time in the area, our dog found some prickyburs or what ever they are called, what a mess that was. We drove around, looks like a good area for camping if it cools off and if there are no people in the camp grounds. Not sure what the traditional hunting area was all about. Not a range for consistent training unless alone shooting off the benches. Will probably go back someday mid week but about what I expected.
