So there's some guy in the PX with an M110 clone built off an ECR I think. Doesn't matter really because any SR25 can be modified to be any number of configurations for $1000 or less, depending on what needs to be done. A little more if you include refinish and engraving.

So how does a new factory rifle with all current upgrades worth $4500 turn into a $12,000 rifle AFTER 1. swapping out the handguard for an older, "lesser" model and 2. changing the gas block/flash hider to accept the older and again "lesser" suppressor, 3. some Cerakote and engraving?

(Same guy has AK's for over $4000 too --Polytech, whatever, no AK is worth more than a few hundred but "I just turned 18's!" and gang bangers keep the price higher but I have to wonder who is buying $4000 AK's).

Another guy on here took an early 1990's SR25, match grade, 24"bbl., and FUCKED IT UP "cloning" a goddamn M110. It WAS a $10,000 rifle if you just left it alone. But he couldn't leave it alone. There's another one on here too that obviously has that type of lower. WTF?

Am I missing something here? Am I the dumbfuck? Because if I need to go turn that SR25 into a wet dream for some fanboy I'll do it if it means I can replace it AND get another rifle in the process!

FWIW, KAC offered me a REAL M110, a new unfired and properly engraved one in the deployment case with mags and other shit including the scope for that almost exact price. Only things it didn't include were the PVS30 and the suppressor. But even then I knew the current and most up to date SR25's + kit are better (and for sure the best bang for buck SR25 KAC has ever made).

I think if more people knew how the military selected weapons and why companies stop making 'em that way after the contract expires that clone shit would be a lot less appealing, but maybe I'm so disconnected from this asshattery that I just don't get it.

Regarding the AKs, the polytechs are no longer imported and probably aren't made any more. 4k is about what they go for in LNIB condition, I sold one a year ago for 3.5k. Stuff becomes collectible. Not sure about clones.

i can see a clone of m40 or enfiled sinper etc, because the historic importance and stories are more important than the accuracy

and just the limited amount on the market makes clones the onlyl way for someone to get their hands on one at times

i got a couple of the M16 SARCO kits a couple years ago and built onto them, using a Nodak lower for one and Brownells for another. They are "clones" but not worth a bunch more than a regular AR. Retro is a draw to many. i liked them because the kits were cheap, they were fun to clean up and build on, and i dont have anything like them. I did use Sp1 Colt barrels on them so they are not just a del-ton parts clone

$4k is stretching it on a polytech legend, but clowns on gunjoker might pay for it. Also at $4k it better have the box, and every accessory, and be unfired.

The px area can get annoying when dudes are bumping overpriced rifles every day for a year. I don't know if these guys are unrealistic, if they are penny pinchers, or if they are just showcasing their stuff for fun.

So....having that in mind, I actually have two clone rifles, built but not butchered.

My Mod 1 and Mod H were built with matched naked Colt HBAR LE/Govt complete uppers and lowers with respective quality and as close to correct parts as I could get. Both perform as expected, and as well as any issued Crane or otherwise assembled unit I ever stuck my paws on. Do they go BANG every time I pull, yep, and they are both 1 shooters which is probably where they should stand. Secondly, I have a Nav Spec War Surplus QCBR upper straight from Crane to the box, that I have been sitting on that probably still has sand stuck in some obscure corner.

Do I think that, or the others are worth a fortune?? Absolutely not. In my view, they are worth no more than I spent on them. Matter of fact, I shoot less and less 5.56 and am thinking of listing two of the three as I am looking to move into a larger caliber AR platform just for shits and giggles. Will I price gouge them, nope, I'll probably take some stupid loss because I'm a pay it forward kinda guy, I have a job and I can always save a few pennies when it matters. Hell, more times than not, I ship a chunk of my ass in the package when I unload something here.

I don't like butchering classic complete rifles for the sake of a clone or taking something already built to be a fine weapon and janking it up. Both of mine were built up not down.

We're talking clones here. I'd take a hemi cuda clone built off of a base model over a 2020 GT any day. The hemi comes with the freedom to do whatever you want to it without dealing with emissions, computers or safety requirements. Parts are cheap and plentiful in comparison with the mustang and there's actually room to work under the hood. With a set of basic hand tools and a little knowledge you turn that blank canvas into something amazing without breaking the bank.

I'm still baffled by the KAC clones though. To each his own.

Yeah I totally get that. Nothing against clones in general.

And I get putting together something similar. I have a recce rifle, I have a couple M4's, a Mk20, but I am guilty of using better parts when applicable because I do use those rifles so JP BCG's and shit in the ones I make. I also get close copies of M40's, some you can't tell the difference and some shoot better than the originals.

I even get buying an HK parts kit and then using Brownell's to fill the gaps if that's what you want to do. Total cost all in would have been what, $2500? But if you'd been patient the rest of the parts would have popped up on GB and for $3500 all in you'd have a no-shit HK417. I missed the boat on that one.

What I don't get is taking a TEN THOUSAND dollar rifle and turning it into a... ??? I guess you can ask $12k for it but shit, IMO the value was ruined the moment they started fucking with that rifle. M110? Didn't CIA assassins, Delta or some shit use those early SR25's? Ones I imagine Eugene fondled himself no less.

No. URX4 is an improvement in a LOT of ways. I hate installing, no I hate uninstalling more, a URX2 or 3. URX4 is way fucking simpler. First of all it's one piece, second it's a lot lighter, third it makes a more solid and stable platform. There's a reason they went with these instead of just slotting a URX3 and upgrading it with a steel nut. But if I'm wrong because a heavier, more complicated one with more parts can do it almost as well, whatever. I think the URX2-3 looks cool too but it's not about how it looks as much as how it performs.

Wait --PM me though if you want a URX2 middy for an AR. I'm not giving it away but I'm not charging tax and shipping either and I'll even loan you the $120 special wrench for a $150 deposit. You get back the deposit the second I get my wrench back. I know nobody offers that.

Look at the LE Trade in SR16 uppers floating around going for over $2,250+... Those guys didn't pay over a grand for them... (If you're selling an SR16 upper, sorry that I'm not sorry for throwing that out there )
