Rifle Scopes Closest Focusing Scopes budget of $1k?

Looking for a $1k ballpark scope to use mostly for rimfire stuff. I want something that will focus less than 25 yards. I’ve discovered there is no easy way to search for scopes with this criteria, so I’ve been spending a shit load of time clicking on various MFGs sites and then checking the specs for each scope.

Part of my problem is that I haven’t shopped for something in this price range for a long time, so I don’t even know what’s what.

Any help and recommendations are appreciated.

I think some of the super snipers focus to 10y. If the criteria is under 25y then the Pickens will be Slim. Many rimfire shooters are okay with 25y, I have a Vortex PST II 5-25 on my 17 HMR that I really like. The PST II 3-15 focuses to 20y and has slightly better glass so if you don’t need more than 15x I highly recommend that scope. Another scope I really like for the price is the Tract Toric 4-20x50, 25y focus and short design and the new PRS reticle might work really well for rimfire. They sometimes go on sale over a holiday weekend, call them and ask for a Snipers Hide discount, if you are LE or Mil also a discount from Tract and Vortex.

New NX8 focuses at 10yds also. So that's two more options. I think at this point i'm set for a 2.5-20x50 with a Mil-C or a Mil-XT.

In the same boat myself. Was pretty set on Athlon Midas tac 6-24×50, 10 yd parallax. Should be around $600 and gets really good reviews. Going to wait a little longer and check out the new Night force NX8 4-32 with 11 yd parallax but it it going to be in the 2K price range. Presently have a gen 1 pst 4-16 on my Vudoo and just looking for something better.

At <$1,000 and <20 yds you're kinda stuck with Athlon Midas TAC, Falcon Menace, Sightron S-Tac (not sure if FFP) and the SWFA SS fixed afaik.

The other stuff at 10yds is $$$$. Several S&Bs, NF, March, etc.

Weaver 3-15x50 Tactical. It is FFP, Japanese manufacture, illuminated, locking turret and 35 yd. minimum parallax at 15X. If you dial down from max. power you will be parallax corrected at closer yardage. The earlier scopes, without illum., are at 25yds. They are very good scopes for the money.

The SS 3-15X42 definitely focuses down to 10 yards at max magnification and closer in at lesser magnification. I have one, so not reading from their website specs.

Vortex diamondback tactical will focus close and they’re ffp. Not very expensive and decent glass. Turrets aren’t bad for the price.

Those are all very good choices for .22 as well.
Sightron S tac 4-20 is available in FFP.
The Midas tac is a dandy scope, check with camera land Ny, Doug will take care of you.
The Menace scopes have been improved, the 4.5-18 offers a couple of really good reticles.

Honestly, It’s less about saving up $ than it is about drawing the line somewhere about how much I’ll spend on a scope for a .22.

The $$$ drawing line you might consider stopping at is the Athlon Midas TAC series. 4-16 for hunting if you need a larger FOV or 6-24 for target. Both focus at 10Y on max mag and can be considered highest bang for the buck in the industry.

After reading the thread just ordered an Athlon Midas TAC 6-24x50 from @gr8fuldoug at Camera Land for my 22LR trainer. Great experience and looking forward to the new scope arriving.

Also pissed that I ordered a Kowa TSN-883 elsewhere 3 months ago for a lot more than Camera Land has them listed for. Not joining the Hide sooner apparently cost me $500. Ugh.

Yeah, you're not wrong. Apparently I now need a 300PRC built on a custom action I'd never heard of 3 months ago with a LH gain twist barrel and a ZCO to sit on top of it. I was thinking shooting would be a nice change of pace for my wallet after racing boats - jury is still out on that.

On the upside, at least now I'll (hopefully) make less dumb decisions about gear and have less useless junk taunting me from my shelves. The Athlon was a better purchase than a Quigley Q520!
