Cmmg 16.1” dedicated 22lr barrel with collar ammo test

Wanted to do a little accuracy testing with the CMMG bolt conversion and their dedicated 16.1”. I’m running dmr class in prs this year so was looking for a 22lr trainer.

Rifle specs are- 16.1” Cmmg 1-16” 22lr barrel
Dpms slick side upper
15” Diamondhead vrs-t handguard
Aero lower
Larue mbt trigger
Magpul prs g2 stock
Harris bipod
Nightforce nxs f1 3.5-15 army spec model with Mil-Dot reticle.

All groups are 10 shots and were shot at 50yds. Dime next to groups for size reference. I tested bulk ammo before this test and was not very impressed at all. Barrel seems to have more expensive taste. I haven’t seen a lot of results online of this conversion so I figured I’d share mine if anyone’s interested. I was pleasantly surprised with my results

That's nice to see. I have one a CMMG complete upper that I'd set aside with plans to rebarrel later because it wasn't shooting as well as I would've liked.

I'll have to give it another go with a variety of higher end ammo and see if I can find something it likes.

My groups were 1.5-3” with bulk ammo. Surprisingly rem thunderbolt shot tighter than a lot of other bulk lol. Winchester m22 was all over the place, Aguila wasn’t bad. The results were very discouraging. Glad I did a test with higher quality ammo. I’m a lot happier now.

i cleaned my barrel real good after running the cheaper stuff though. Then I started the testing with the higher quality stuff.

Labradar velocities and averages for the match ammo that was fired for the groups. Groups remained pretty consistent to the previous results. The fiocci still produced the best groups but had the worst standard deviation.

It's interesting that fiocchi was sooo much worse in extreme spread. Norma wasn't awesome, but substantially better than fiocchi. I wouldn't call the others statistically differentiable.

groups were great with the fiocchi very disappointing that the sd sucked. I bought 1000 norma match before the test. It’s not bad but I was hoping it would be a little better.
