Howzit guys

I'd like to do a 300 AAC AR build in the near future. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with these CMMG uppers. I was waiting for a company to do a 16" piston version for a reasonable price but I was just wondering about these even though they are DI because the price looks right. I like how it is threaded in 5/8 24 because I have a PWS FSC30 sitting around. I'm forced to go with the 16" barrel or 14.5" with pinned flash hider because thats as short as you can go on a rifle in Hawaii. I was planning on running this on my Sig 516 lower until I get the bottom end built. I wanted to go with the heavy bullets like 220-240 SMK's and use this as a home defense/plinking gun.

Your thoughts??

Another question:
with the heavier bullets going so slow will it be enough for the hollow point to even open up? I was wondering about this as far as using for home defense. Or will it be like shooting FMJ basically?

Thanks in advance

Re: CMMG 16" 300 AAC Blackout upper

I have heard good and bad about the CMMG barrels. I have a friend that has one in 300 blackout, and his shoots great. I have one with a Noveske barrel, it shoots great also. To answer your question about the 220gn and up bullets, they don't expand well from what I have seen. Unless you want to spend $100 on Outlaw State bullets. The 200gn and up bullets are more for subsonic use and plinking.
