CMMG Uppers - 308 Lowers

Re: CMMG Uppers

Everything CMMG is pretty much bottom of the barrel on quality and customer service, at least on AR15 stuff, I have no experience with the .308 size items, and never will. And it's too bad, as they are pretty local to me.

Re: CMMG Uppers

I picked one up at a gun show for 275 right when they first came out. I seems to be good quality, at least as good as DPMS.

Now I wish I wad waited for the Iron Ridge lower but maybe I'll add one of their uppers when they come out.

Re: CMMG Uppers

I've never heard of CMMG as bottom of the barrel, I always thought they were decent at that price point. All the uppers and lowers I've bought from them had a decent finish on them and they were in spec, on a 100$ stripped lower and 550$ complete upper that's really all you can ask for.

Re: CMMG Uppers

I just had CMMG build me an upper in 5.56mm. I've had no complaints thus far in anything! I have been very satisfied with the fit and finish and no problems with the few rounds I've ever fired through it so far! I've always heard they made great Short barreled Rifles and pistols. My thoughts were that the SBRs were harder to make hence indicating they should have no problems making a middy that works.

As for 308 lowers I'd trust CMMG to make a good one!

Re: CMMG Uppers

Thats the first time Ive heard anyone call cmmg bottom of barrel. IMHO they product better AR15 products then Stag, RRA and DPMS. I have never had a problem with their products, and I have had at least 8 of their uppers and lowers in various configurations. They always ate anything I fed the, and never gave me problems.

If they have dropped the ball in the last year, thats another story because thats the last time I bought anything from them.

Re: CMMG Uppers

I have a RRA NM 2-stage trigger in my LR-308 and love it. Cut my group size by at least 3/4 moa.
Functions great. I do wish the take up on the first stage was shorter, but otherwise, I'm very happy with it.

Re: CMMG Uppers

They must dump the problem stuff at all the local gunshows around here then, as I have seen many with serious problems, mainly horribly rough upper receivers, BCG's and barrels. Send them back and they say "they are mil-spec, sorry".

Also, how they ripped off and copied Black Dog's AR22 magazines (a very poor copy, BTW) was pretty low.
