The House narrowly passed this bill. On to their Senate. Of course, couched in terms of " promoting responsible gun ownership " . Anybody with the sense of a sea cucumber can see that this is simply one more lego in the construction of a system that serves as a barrier to private ownership of firearms in Colorado. Make it such a colossal PITA and/or expensive to purchase and own a firearm and eventually more and more people ( at least law abiding people ) will say " The hell with it. Not worth the hassle. " Wonder if this will pass 2A muster?

Easier to blame an inanimate object than the asshats that use them nefariously. Fucking assholes.
Oh absolutely! A gun is something you can feel, see. It`s an easy target. Passing a law is far easier, less expensive, and " showier" from a political standpoint than trying to deal with " squishy " things like mental health, crime prevention, etc., etc. Besides, SERIOUS gun violence prevention programs, particularly in urban areas, would require focus on communities of color. NOBODY is going to tackle that, particularly in blue cities.
