sold $2350 shipped. This is a copy of the Colt model 607, foreruner of the XM177 and Car-15 as used by Special Forces and MACV-SOG in Vietnam. Early 607's had a short barrel with a cylindrical moderator that resulted in excessive muzzle flash. When the XM177 muzzle brake came out, some 607's were retrofitted. The 607 featured a three position adjustable buttstock that was pinned to the lower receiver and operated by a lever in the butt. Early 607's had large triangular handguards. This gun uses an Anderson Arms AM-15 lower that has had the Colt logo electro-chemically engraved. The upper is an original Vietnam era M16a1 receiver. It has been left in its' original condition and the other parts custom Cerakoted with a battleworn finish to match. The tear drop forward assist, flat handguard ring, fire controls, charging handle, and bolt carrier group are all original Colt Vietnam era parts. The three position early model butt stock is custom made and pinned to the receiver like the originals. The 1-12 chrome lined barrel has an XM177 flash hider with grenade ring pinned and welded at 16.1 inches. The trigger has had JP competition springs installed, sear surfaces honed, and breaks cleanly at 5 pounds. This is not just a piece of history, it is an exceptional firearm.
