Colt AR15 20 Rd Mag Follower Question

I have an old Colt 20rd GI mag with the aluminum follower. Does someone make an upgraded follower for this mag, or is the current follower adequate?

C products makes the no tip follower that would be my first choice.

Unless the aluminum is causing problems, I would use it.

The Aluminum followers in the 20rnd GI/Colt mags are EXCELLENT and generally run without any problems! When I buy 20rnd mags from gunshows, etc., the Al. followers is just one of the things I look for.

I have also modified Magpul followers for 20rnd mags with broken followers in the past and that works well. I don't recall the precise measurement I used when cutting down the legs on the Magpul followers, but I'll try to inspect one of my modified mags later this evening and report back.

The old, alum. follower 20 round mags are THE standard for reliability, don't mess it up.
