I have acquired 2 20 rnd Colt mags with metal followers. They have Colt bottom plates but I'm not sure if that really means anything. I let my boss take a look at them and he said it was what he used in Vietnam. Most of his time was being a Huey pilot so he wasn't 100% sure. Does anyone know what I can look for to verify what I may have?

Thanks

Re: Colt Mags w/ Metal Follower

I have several I have gathered up over the years. They all work fine. I rebuilt some of them a couple years ago just to feel better about them being old. They still work fine after I rebuilt them, guess it did not hurt them any.

If the feed lips are ok, they should work fine. If you want to feel better or they do not function 100%, put in new springs.

Some of the best mags ever made, what the guns were designed around and still the gold standard for reliability.

Most are really worn now, but still work better than the new wonder mags.

They were, like the Eiffel tower, made to be disposable, but just keep on trucking!

I have a bunch of the Colt/Hartford Horsey mags that I have picked up over the years and they are first-rate. Maybe not the most modern technology like the PMAGs, etc., but they fit and function 100% in every AR I have tried them in.

I use the Colt metal follower mags for high power rifle and have never had a feed issue with them, they just work flawlessly every time!
