My college roomate (from YEARS AGO!!) recently inherited this pistol from his grandfather and father. I know nothing about them, but would imagine that this is worth a pretty penny. Can any of you Colt SAA experts provide additional information on what he has, and , based on the photos, ballpark value. Yes I have an understanding of the free market system and willing buyer and seller. ;)
Stamped on side is Jan 19 75
    Serial appears to be 99192
Also shows 105 900 on butt.

    Thanks for your help

If you need additional information, it may take a couple days to get it, or better photos as well.

    Thanks for your assistance.

@diverdon thanks for the link. He lives back East in a VERY unfriendly firearm area. He talked about taking it to Cabela's and I told him he would likely get screwed there. on value .

Appreciate your suggestion, set a minimum price if he decides to sell, and auction through a licensed reputable dealer.

Have him contact Colt directly to get "the letter" from them on it. They will tell him exactly when it was made, where and when it was shipped, etc....
The letter often enhances the value.
According to the "99192" serial number, it was made in 1883, so it is a BLACK POWDER ONLY gun.
The "105900" marked on the grip frame was from a gun made in 1884.

Shame someone got at it with their Craftsman screwdrivers and buggered the heads.

Tell him to get a letter from Colt showing the original shipping date/destination and configuration. That can make a huge difference in value.

Looking at just the pictures, it's been buffed hard and refinished and may not have originally been nickel.
According to what you say, the serial numbers don't match.
It is a black powder frame gun.

    At least it's a .44!

Might bring $1K if someone really likes it....

But, get the letter. It might make a big difference.

Edit to add: If it letters to the current configuration, it might be worth getting professionally restored. Otherwise, it's a nice family heirloom/keepsake/paperweight.

The location of the screw under the cylinder pin and the circular ejector tab would also make this a pre-1896 revolver in general.

+1 on contacting Colt directly and getting official records.
