If you've got a good view of the western sky, Comet Atlas will be hitting peak brightness this month and should be visible to the naked eye just after dusk.

Anybody know anything about a 1970's/early 80's Celestron 14"? Was purchased from a university on Govdeals surplus.

The moon through this thing is YOOJ! Can almost see the footprints except targets are moving really, really fast.

Celestial targets move unbelieveably fast. I've seen satellites zip by twice, just in casual observation of other stuff...

Years ago, a friend had an 8" telescope set up in his yard. We were able to see the moons of Jupiter, which without auto tracking soon passed out of view.
