Suppressors Conceal Carry Holster

Hoping for some first hand experience with a good conceal carry holster for a M&P 9mm fullsize. The only holster i have used for it is a serpa for target practice and IDPA, but Im getting my CCW next month and I would like something that offered more concealment.

Like I was told, get a box put it in the closet. when you buy a holster you don't like throw it in the box and you will probably fill the box before you find one that makes you happy.

On a side note, I have heard people say that a small of the back holster is a bad idea. I would think insome instances its a better concealment point . What are the major drawbacks besides speed?

My original holster served me well for 9 years until I stripped one of the screws while changing out a belt clip. I sent it back for repair and even though I had stated that the problem was caused by me what was returned was a brand new holster.

No only is it one of the most comfortable and versatile IWB holsters around, but the customer service is over the top.

I use a Raven Concealment,usually with the rubber IWB loops, for my M&P40.

Drawbacks....one is protecting the gun from someone trying to disarm you. Also unless you plan on standing straight up and down all day the weapon will print with the slightest bend at your waist. If you have to sit on anything remotely ridgid it is not the least bit comfortable.

I have a Galco "Cop Slide Holster" that I sometimes carry my S&W M&P45(fullsize) with offduty. It holds the weapon pretty close to my body with not a lot of print. I also have a Desantis "Cozy Partner" (Inside-the-waistband) that I carry my Kimber Pro Carry II(4") concealed offduty. I find it to be very comfortable and has very little print, even under a t-shirt.

I've recently ordered 3 holster from Raven based on all the good reviews I've read. I hope they are as good as advertised.

When I carry a full size 1911 I prefer the Milt Sparks VM2 for IWB or a Mitch Rosen 5J5 for OWB carry.

One thing that will make all the difference in the world is a good belt. I've got belts from Mitch Rosen and The Beltman. Both work great and make a heavy gun like a 5" 1911 easy to carry.

Any opinions on the Raven Appendix Carry Rig?? I would like to know how confortable are they when driving long hours and how's the draw when sitting inside a vehicle.

I like the crossbreed iwb holsters. By the way, if you havnt already, make sure you get a good belt if you dont have one. You dont want to skimp on the belt. I like these:

There are dozens of threads on this forum on "My favorite holster". Breez67 speaks the truth. You will have as many holsters as your wife has shoes. Asking us what holster is good for you is like asking us how our shoes will fit your feet.

We need to know more about your situation like build, hgt wgt wingspan, what you wear, how you dress what you do day to day etc. Even then, you will still ned the box in your closet as recommended by Breeze67. Case in point, my business partner is tall and lean and an IWB Milt Sparks works well for him. I am a bit older and better padded, IWB, not so good for me See what I mean?

As far as my build goes I'm 5'10" 200lbs. I can't carry on the job so I'm not worrying about long hours sitting at a desk with it. I do often wear tucked in shirts when I go out a lot of polo shirts so I do need something tuckable. I appreciate all the advise. I wasn't really expecting 6-8 week wait times on a holster.

I have a kimber full size 1911 that I bought a Raven concealment systems holster for, carry it in the waste band and love it. some days I switch it up and wear it outside the wasteband with a tshirt covering it. I wear it everyday in an undercover capacity and have never had it pointed out. Also I have a flashlight attached to the rail on the kimber and it is an awesome holster. One of the schools I attended said to never carry a ccw in the sob position because if you are sitting down you cant get the weapon out, and it is to exaggerated of a movement to get it out, appendix or hip is my choice

I carry a Full size 1911 for off duty and court. I'm 6'5 245 I either use the Galco COP series with the cant or my BlackHawk with the cant. The Galco keeps it in nice and tight. I wear all my shirts out over my belt, the balck hawk does not keep it in as close as I would like. Stoner makes a nice 1911 holster.

Woolfegunleather.com makes real nice iwb rigs and short wait times.

Kirkpatrick leather makes my favorite owb holsters thumbreak and open top. Again relatively short waits.
Ttgunleather and Tucker Gunleather make in my opinion the nicest leather out there. But be prepared to wait.


I only use leather on my rigs but when I was first getting into the ccw i had stuff from comp Tac. Their paddle holster and ctac worked very well. Plus real short wait.

Don Hume makes decent entry level leather holsters for cheap if you want to try different things out. Gunners ally carries them

I carry a 1911 kimber in a Galco Gladius holster. I wear a t-shirt underneath a polo type shirt for concealment. definately conceals well and keeps weapon tight to the body. since it uses snaps with loops to secure the holster to a belt, its also easy to remove the holster without removing your belt. Been wearing one for about 4 years now and I do have a box of holsters that I tried before I found this one. I live and work in S.Florida and concealing a gun in this heat can be a nightmare. My go-to is a Galco Sto-n-go. It's easy on and off, and stays in place well. I carry a Kahr PM40, which is a lot smaller than a full size M&P. I don't know I would prefer something that big.

I'm getting into making my own. If you are even slightly inclined towards anything crafty, a pancake holster is an easy project. There are a few tutorials online. Costs little in tools and materials compared to a $50-$100 rig. You get to make it exactly how you want.

I have done the same thing. I bought a holster for the shell, and put velcro on the backside of it. It attaches to a heavy duty elastic band (like an ace bandage) that I sewed velcro on the other side. I wear it like a belly band, and you can place the gun/holster in any position you like. I use this when tucking in shirts wearing dress pants, or when wearing gym shorts (since you have no belt). It works great.

I just received this holster in the mail yesterday. It is very comfortable. A loose fitting tee shirt does cover well, even tucked in. I think I will buy some tees with a thicker thread pattern just for a little added cover for the hotter weather just to be sure. I have a G27 with a pinky extension on the mags for grip.

If I remember, ill update more after a month or so of wearing it.

Yup... I second the cross breed. I have one that I use for my kimber pro carry II (which would be a 4" model) and I love it. It's very comfy even in my evo's recaro bucket seats... and yeah... it hides the 1911 really well... almost too well
