Contributor Membership out of PayPal balance?

I want to upgrade my membership, but in the process, payment methods don’t give the option of paying out of my PayPal balance, only accounts linked to a card or directly to my bank account.

Is there a way to pay out of my balance instead of a direct banking link?

I'm not a PayPal expert, but since the upgrade is a subscription with a reoccurring monthly charge it probably has to be linked to a credit card to make sure that the payment will have funds.
