Hi folks,
New to the forum with questions, of course. Recently, my 7.62 Rem 700PSS was rebarreled with a 6.5x55 Swede stainless barrel. Before rebarrelling, it ejected fine. Now, it extracts but doesn't eject. I suspect the smith set it up as he sets up all of his Silhouette rifles, so as not to sling brass. What do I need to do to fix it?
The big question is about the chamber. I usually load my 6.5x55 with the long bullet way out (military Mauser). The new barrel is so short in the neck that I have to load to 2.750"OAL or the bullet gets caught in the rifling. I would like to ream the barrel to allow me to load the bullet out to 3.05" or so, and maybe prevent flattened primers and allow mil-spec ammo to be used if necessary. Any ideas on what reamer I need to buy, or who makes a good one?
I assume my 308 boltface is compatible with 6.5x55, but don't know if I should have a different extractor or ejector installed. The original smith is a long distance affair, so any help will be greatly appreciated. I have the bolt disassembly tool already.
Thanks!
