I came across a interesting video yesterday about the coriolis effect on impact when shooting at distance (1000yds) East and West.

Has anyone ever run into this? I did not know that changing direction (East to West) would impact bullet drop.

I saw this vid also and thought it was very interesting. I didn't really like when he said shoot north and south as opposed to east and west, that would just make the windage off, but whatever it was a fun watch.

its extremely important to understand this when shooting long distances. it may make your head explode, but if you really want to stretch out, its a concept that you will need to have a basic grasp of. there is lots of good info out there on this. i shoot mostly .308 or smaller, but if you want to play with the .338's and the rest of the big boy toys and go to 1500+, it will definately be a factor in your firing solution.

Look at this video..............https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hiRaP8qxqa4&list=PLGfSwS6nNsXyjWp9_4z1oI-LRKl9Xr6vk&index=74

According to that video, the correction is something on the order of 1/10 mil at 1000 yards. Unless you have a rifle/shooter combo that is at least that precise at the given range, AND can call wind sufficiently precisely, the coriolis effect is within the noise of the firing solution.
