Re: Counterfeit Leupolds?

Well...the counterfeits are getting harder to spot just from a quick look. The ones I have seen (the Mk4 ones anyway) were very easy to differentiate from the real deal (missing medallion, white-on-black engraving, etc.), but the pics in that link are pretty glaring ripoffs of the Leupold product (and its protected intellectual property rights) that are not so easily differentiated with just a glance.

Guess I should be glad that I haven't bought a Leupold scope in several years now (and don't plan on getting back into Leupys anytime soon once the ones I have take a dump).

Re: Counterfeit Leupolds?

while the general consensus is that leupold hasnt been up to par, I'm pretty interested in seeing the upcoming mk8's and how they compare to other highend options. at least that's a line that'll probably take while to counterfit.

Re: Counterfeit Leupolds?

A buddy of mine got one of these and we tried to mount it up over the weekend. He knew it was fake but kind of wanted to see how it held up. He used it for awhile but of course it didn't hold zero well. This past weekend we put it on another 700 and took it out to the range. The thing was haywire and the turrets pretty much were shot for the elevation. But definitely buyer beware if you're getting too good of a deal you should be wary.
