Well I was fortunate enough to be able to put my younger cousin on his first deer this morning. It was foggy and cool on the farm. I decided on our spot last night and had a pretty good feeling this morning on the walk in. We got set up and settled in. From there the rest of the hunt happened really fast.. At 7:00 sharp, I just happened to look over my left shoulder, and seen this buck running straight down the fence at us. As he neared our position, he started out in the field and stopped 15 yards directly in front of us. My cousin, on the shooting sticks, never even had to re position himself. The deer stopped directly in front of the gun. When he stopped I whispered SHOOT! He made a perfect high shoulder shot (exit side pictured). The deer made it 20 yards and piled up. The high fives then commenced...What a great experience.
