Cowboy boot companies

Olathe Boots are always a maker to consider. https://olatheboots.com/our-boots

I've been wearing their boots exclusively for the last thirty years. Mine were all built when Olathe was still in Olathe, KA. Their workmanship and materials are as good as it comes. They are now in Mercedes, Texas and still handmade.

Any cowboy boot companies to avoid? Any that have come out in opposition to us?
Ariat boots are nice. I really like the pairs that I have. I have a more dressy pair and a work boot. Believe it or not if you are looking for a Harness Style boots the Harley Davidson Brand boots are great. They are very durable and they are also waterproof.

Reason I asked was I just bought a pair of Ariats for my wife for her birthday (which is today). Ariat 10023161's. Looking for a pair for me one day. Checking if any boot companies have pulled a Dicks in the past.

@Quarter Horse What price are the Olathes? The cb6 looks good to me.

Lucchese and Dan Post fit my foot well. I bought a few pair 5 years ago - keep boot trees in when not wearing, slather on some boot dressing and polish, don't wear same pair two days in a row and those things last!

Lefty, probably about $300.00. I'm just guessing from prices at Drew's Boots. If I read the Olathe website correctly, you can order pretty much whatever you want. You pick the toe, heel, sole construction, stitching patterns, etc. and they will give you a quote. I've just bought from a dealer, Olathe used to sell direct if I remember correctly but that is no longer the case.

Justin boots are good. I would avoid reptile as they tend to be a lot more fragile. I had anacondas when I served, but the didn’t last. I have one pair of black, mako sharks, and one pair of black elephants (pre ban). Both will probably get worn by my grandkids if they fit. The only thing that will ever wear out is the soles. I hear ray skin is tough too.

I bought a pair of Ariat steel toe about 4 years ago when I was still working international. They look nice enough to wear around town or travel in and if the baggage monkeys lost my shit on the way to work atleast I allready had on a pair of steel toes that were broke in and comfortable.
The only real gripe I have with them is they are made in China but I think most all are anymore unless you go to one of the smaller craftsmen that do all hand made products.

I guess it depends on what you want to do with them and what you expect out of them. Nothing wrong with Ariats.

If my memory serves me I think they started out as a company making English boots and that they were started by a couple of women that knew each other from someplace like Cal or Stanford or some CA business school. So they probably have liberal tendencies but I have never heard of them going crazy.

If you are going to use them for kicking around town and relaxing in I think they are fine. I think you could find the same out of Justin Boots and I think Justin is pretty hard core into conservative stuff. I used to ride with one of the sales reps and he was pretty straight laced. Between the two I would go with Justin.

If your going to be riding a bunch, most folks seem to look for leather soles so that narrows your choices a bit. Some of the other guys here have given you good advice in Whites, Olathes and Boulet. Those are all good and I would throw in Rios of Mercedes. Rod Patricks work the best for me. After that you go custom.

Try them on to make sure they fit, pick a good sole material for you and make sure you spend some time wearing riding boots with tall heels in them if you are going to be walking or dancing in them. If you are not used to stacked heels they can take some time to get used to.

I use ariat for work boots and Anderson bean for my dress/casual boots. They’re really nice. I’m having a handmade pair made but won’t have them till January.
