When on a stand using an e caller do you ever switch sounds? Like from cottontail to woodpecker or something similar? And what have you found to be the best setup when hunting in timber?

Yes, I do 5-10ish minutes per sound. Rabbit sounds, start low and increase volume incrementally. Then if none of the rabbits or juvenile fox type calls work i switch to bird sounds. then next stand. I haven't had much luck with coyote vocalizations in my area, but I haven't ruled out coyote pup distress during the correct times of year.

We start with rabbit distress, then coyotes yapping (beat then to the food) then challenge calls. 15 min max then off to the next stand.

I’ve always heard the 15-20min per stand. How far do you move between stands? I’ve not had much luck ever calling. The only successful stand I’ve had so far was 45 min in and had 3 bobcats come in within 10 minutes of each other.

I think time per stand is dependent on available acres to hunt, hunting pressure, weather conditions, competition or hunting for fun. Ex. If I have 500 acres, I’ll spend significantly more time per stand than I will on 20,000 acres. But if you’re hunting large ranches then yea 15 min per stand is fine. Some guys hunting large west Texas ranches in competitions make 5 minute stands. On my family’s 1500 acres, I do about 45 mins, and after 30 minutes I’m typically sitting with the expectation of seeing bobcats since I haven’t seen coyotes yet.
