Hey guys wondering if anyone has seen or had anything like this before. Gun has low estimate of 20k rounds on it. Speer lawman 165 grain mostly. Glock 22 gen 4. Gun started to see Jams recently and then quickly turned into a jam o matic. Replaced everything chasing the issue, and saw this inspecting the frame. New frame with same magazines and slide and 1k flawless rounds. Not looking for a Glock vs xyz debate, I’m very happy with glock. Just looking to see if anyone else has had this experience and gain some knowledge here. Thanks guys 104556F0-7E75-42B0-A97D-4DD6F7FC9E1B.png8A15A1C1-B537-4212-A82D-53C21DF7D2B6.png

Thanks @Powder_Burns. Glock is making good on it. I guess more detail will help as well. I’m an armorer (new one) for my agency. 5 guns have gone down due to this recently, with 6 more on the fringe, and that’s only after looking at a small fraction of the issues weapons. We’re way past due for new stuff. It’s always damn near impossible to get money spent where you need it, and will be even harder now. Just trying to get more knowledge for the argument that is ensuing

I personally don't like the place, but quite a few police armorers and knowledgeable Glock users hang out at pistol-forum.com. Might want to ask there too.

thanks brother I appreciate it, I’ll check em out. I searched a lot on google before posting and the Glock forums are full of big time fan boys that flame anyone who posts something that may even suggest a hint of a Glock failure. It’s a tool. It happens. I personally like Glock a lot, but think you need to own a 1911 as well 🇺🇸

Yes- Many Glocks have KB'd....

They had an issue with some Gen 3 and the steel frame inserts would crack... small batch of frames were impacted....

Any HP cartridge will wear the frame and components faster...

I have not seen this issue with Gen 3 and 180 grain bullets.

Over 20K rounds, does the armorer or owner have records as to when the recoil springs were replaced?

As with anything, there is some discussion- do you just do the test to verify the spring is still good or do you replace at an interval.... 3K-5K Rounds?

Any details on the springs?

there is no testing, there is no service interval and definitely no records lol. It gets fixed (eventually) when it is broken, and your issued a used weapon.

I’m new as an armorer ( not a
Genius but know that no service or records is asking for trouble) so I haven’t seen a ton of complete failures. Glad to see others have had same issue. Maybe not glad, validated is a better term, after I’ve been stepping on my own d**k causing waves about lack of maintenance etc

At Frontsight c.2006, one of their school rental guns cracked a frame. They estimated it had 200k rounds through it.

20k seems low. Hot handloads?

Everything has a MTBF. Even Glocks.

All Speer lawmen. Again not particularly mad or bashing Glock. I like Glock, ALOT. I know it can be abused and still go bang, and be accurate. Just wanted to get more info if others had any similar issues, as I knew I’d be talking to admin, and Glock regarding it. There was more than 1 frame that exhibited this. Quite a few along with frame rails breaking off etc.

Glock made good on all of the broken weapons , with them back in hand in 9 days from date they shipped out to them

we had quite a few cracked (they fixed promptly) with a huge # of them on the verge. Admin tried to get them to switch out all new guns to 9mm for free, but Glock wasn’t going for that.

I’m a Glock armorer... this is a known issue With the 40S&W Frames. Call into customer service and they’ll get you taken care of.

Caliber matters
I don't recall, but I think 9mm. I believe all their rental guns back then were 9's.

But even a 9 will eventually wear out.

That said, could have been a .40. I am not honestly sure.

What I do remember is that over 5 days, my .40 shot 2500 rounds without a jam, a fail or an issue. I didn't clean it once... sort of as a torture test. Lots of 1911's and customs and race guns failed miserably. The Glocks on the line all kept shooting. I have no use for Glocks as a collectible. But if you want something to stake your life on... tactical tupperware is the ticket.

Love all my 1911's... They are the guns I grew up on. But Glocks just work. As ugly and plastic as they are.
