Craddock RTR 223 Wylde 16.25” Build

Figured I’d start a thread for a new build I’m working on. It will be based on a bead blasted RTR .223 Wylde 16.25" Mk12 Mod-H barrel with headspaced bolt & set screw gas block, SOLGW M89 13” rail, Lantac Billet upper (thermofit), Lantac enhanced bolt carrier, BCM MK2 ambi CH.

I’ll being using a different muzzle device than the one in the below pic. Currently waiting on a Cross Machine Tool Tactical Combat Flash Comp. Will update the thread as I put it together and load up some 77 smk’s for it in some ‘25 LC brass with a variety of powders.

I will likely pair it with an aero m4e1 lower with geissele ssa-e x trigger, FCD safety, maritime bolt catch/release, geissele super42 buffer spring (h2 buffer), Magpul k2+ grip, and magpul dt-pr stock.

If you want an easy button, 24.1 grains of N140, 77 SMK, in new lake city cases has been sub MOA in every single AR I’ve tried. Colt HBAR, Criterion Core, Criterion Hybrid, and whatever BG Defense uses in their Type A. I wanted to try TAC, but with load development on several different guns going I just can’t justify the time. Especially given the cost of N140. I need to chrono it next time I shoot 556.
Cool looking build. I’ve got 3 RTR barrels now (all 6.5 Grendel) and I’ve been very happy.

Thanks! Oh yes Im quite familiar with that combo, prob shot my best gas gun group ever with it. N140 will be at the top of my list to test out accuracy loads along with 8208 xbr and maybe H4895. For speed & blaster loads I will use tac or AA2520. I will post my ladder tests, etc here.

Finally got the new barrel borescoped today. Everthing looks pretty normal to me except I've never seend lands that start "unevenly" like this before (see first pic below). I'm not going to judge the barrel until I shoot it but I wanted to make a note of that.

This is a mid-length gas system and the port gauged out to 0.079"

Now that the initial barrel inspection is complete I will start breaking it in then start load development.
